The other day my wife and I went out for breakfast. We went into a beautiful little restaurant and were seated. The waitress came with two glasses of water and menu, and her hands were full. I expected to hear the familiar greeting, “How are you and may I help you?” As I helped take the water and free her hands, she said with enthusiasm to my wife, “I bet he’s nice to have around.” That did it! I felt ten years younger and immediately our spirits lifted because of her cheerfulness. What a radiant person she was. The doors of communication were opened and everyone cheered up!
Cheerfulness is one of the great virtues of success. It’s like putting fuel on the fire. With it you can overcome gloom, dispel darkness, and heal the mind of loneliness. If I had to make a choice between a talented person and a cheerful person of less talent, I would take the cheerful person.
Happy people put out more work than unhappy people. Show me a person who is cheerful and I’ll show you a man who has unlimited possibilities.
